Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to consult archive material in person in the NIOD reading room. This situation is expected to last until at least 31 August. The NIOD library and office will remain open as usual.

We have had to evacuate the archive records from one of our storage facilities as a precautionary measure. Our warning system reported a water leak in one of the archive storage facilities. There has been no damage to the archive. As the cause and solution to the problem were not immediately clear, we decided, as a precaution, not to take any risks and to evacuate the archive. Thanks to effective measures, the leak is now under control. The cause has now been identified and a team of technical specialists is working on a solution.

Over the coming period, we will be focusing on planning and organising the repair work on the depot and the full resumption of our services.

Through this website, we will keep you up to date with the latest information on our services and the accessibility of the archive. If you have any questions about the situation, please contact our Communications Department at communicatie@niod.knaw.nl.
