With this extra newsletter we would like to inform you about the measures the NIOD is taking regarding Covid-19. Just like the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, NIOD is following the recommendations of the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and Environmental Protection (RIVM) and the central government. These measures will apply until at least 6 April 2020:
- The NIOD is closed to visitors. This has been decided by the NIOD management to reduce the risk of infection with Covid-19 for visitors and employees of the NIOD and to prevent the virus from spreading. Because of this measure, the reading room and library are not open to visitors until 6 April 2020.
- The NIOD reception is not available by phone. You can send an email to email@example.com.
- The communications department can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- If you have any questions about the collection: We will get started with your request as soon as possible. Due to the measures taken in connection with Covid-19, it is currently not possible to conduct adequate research in our archives. Because of this, it will take longer to answer your question. Thank you for understanding.
Frequently asked questions about the NIOD collection can be found on our website: https://www.niod.nl/nl/faq
The NIOD website can be used to search the inventory database of the archives, and in some cases digitized archives can also be used. For an impression of the library, see the library catalog. In the WW2 image bank you will find the photo collection of NIOD and other participating institutions. The collections can be reached via this website: https://www.niod.nl/nl/collecties
For digital sources, you can also visit the site of ‘Netwerk Oorlogsbronnen’: https://www.oorlogsbronnen.nl/
The WW2 image bank can be reached via info@beeldbankWO2.nl. However, given the circumstances, it will not always be possible to provide the highest possible resolution of an image.
The NIOD management has decided to postpone all events regarding NIOD 75 to a later time (to be announced, please follow our website and social media for more information).
Keep an eye on our website and social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram) for further information.
