In today's Volkskrant the Netherlands Institute for Military History (NIMH), the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV-KNAW) and the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocidestudies (NIOD-KNAW) strongly encourage the Netherlands to take the inititiative for a research that re-evaluates the acts of war in Indonesia during the period 1945-1949.

Based on this research an analysis can be made to better understand what has taken place in Indonesia, how these events were researched (or not) in the decades that followed and how they were discussed in media and politics, both in the Netherlands as well as in Indonesia.
