Genocide is an ongoing and persistent phenomenon in very diverse human societies throughout history. More than 75 years after the Holocaust and the Genocide Convention, genocide is as relevant as ever on a global level. In his inaugural address, Üngör discusses the concept of genocide, the research on perpetrators and perpetration, and mass violence in Syria and Iraq.
