Our collections contain many books, newspaper clippings, and archival documents (original documents etc.) that can be used for a school project, however, this material can only be consulted in NIOD’s reading room.
The library catalogue of the NIOD, the archive and the finding aids of our cuttings collection can be searched via the website. We do not lend out or send materials; however, copies can be made in the reading room.
NIOD's image collection (with photos, drawings, and posters) can be consulted via the WWII Image bank website Images can be downloaded directly from this site for educational purposes or private use, provided that they are not subject to copyright law.
A good starting point for your research into the Second World War is the Tweedewereldoorlog.nl portal. If you are looking for original sources from or about the Second World War, you can also use the Netwerk Oorlogsbronnen (the 'Dutch Network of War Collections') search engine.
