Daan de Leeuw (1987) has a BA in History (cum laude) and a Research Master in History (cum laude) from the University of Amsterdam. He is specialized in Holocaust and Genocide Studies and modern German history. His MA thesis on Nazi doctors who committed medical experiments on prisoners in German concentration camps during the Second World War has been awarded the Volkskrant-IISG Thesis Award 2014.
From February 2015 until August 2017, Daan has worked as dr. Conny Kristel’s research assistant, during which he assisted her in finishing the project Witnesses to Violence. The Netherlands and the First World War 1914-1919. Since May 2015, he works as a researcher in EHRI (European Holocaust Research Infrastructure). From January 2016 until August 2017, he has worked as Project Manager of EHRI. Since August 2017, Daan is also a PhD student at the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Clark University.
