
Hebe Willems is a research assistant for political and parliamentary sources within the programme ‘The Netherlands and Afghanistan 2001–2021’.
Willems obtained her MSc in Conflict and Development Studies (summa cum laude) from Ghent University in 2024, after completing an MA in Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the University of Amsterdam (2021) and a BSc in Political Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (2020, cum laude).
As an intern with the Gender and Conflict team at International Crisis Group, Willems gained practical experience in gender-sensitive conflict analysis. In her own research, she approaches armed conflict, foreign interventions and protest movements from a feminist perspective.
