Iwona Guść (1979) graduated (cum laude) in Dutch Language and Culture at the University of Wrocław (Poland). As PhD-student she continued her academic education in the Netherlands. In 2012 she received her PhD from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Groningen.
Between 2010 and 2014 she worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies and conduct her research for the project The Dynamics of Contemporary Antisemitism in a Globalising Context. The "Jew" as a Framing Model in the Netherlands, Morocco, Poland and Turkey. Her main area of study concentrated on the post-war history of Poland (with focus on the history of Polish Jews); the way this history is transmitted and perceived in the West and the role the Polish (including Polish-Jewish) diaspora in the Netherlands plays in these processes.
Dissertation: ‘Polished’ cinema. On the reception of Andrzej Kondratiuk’s work in Poland and the grotesque (Groningen; 2011).
