Mr. drs. Jona Mooren
Biography
Jona Mooren studied Information Law at the IViR of the University of Amsterdam and Art History at the Vrije Universiteit. Since September 2018 she has been working as an art history researcher at NIOD’s Expert Centre Restitution. She performs (art-historical) fact-finding in the context of individual restitution applications. She also works as a leader of work packages at the Pilot Project Provenance Research on Objects from the Colonial Era (PPROCE).
Previously, Jona was project manager and researcher at the Dutch Museum Association for the project ‘Museale Verwerving sinds 1933’ (Museum Acquisitions from 1933), in which Dutch museums investigated the origins of their collections. She was also secretary of the Ethical Code Committee for Museums. In 2014-2015 she conducted research into the provenance of art objects belonging to the Royal Collections.From 2015, Jona worked as an art-historical researcher for the Advisory Committee on the Assessment of Restitution Applications for Items of Cultural Value and the Second World War (Restitution Committee).
