Mariette Wolf (1964) is programme leader of the large-scale research programme Independence, decolonisation, violence and war in Indonesia, 1945-1950. She is a media historian and was director of the Dutch Press Museum until 2002. Afterward she became an active independent exhibition maker and author of historical non-fiction. In 2009 Mariette finished her PhD at the University of Amsterdam on the history of the popular newspaper De Telegraaf (Het geheim van De Telegraaf, geschiedenis van een krant). Mariette also chronicled the history of Circus Theatre Carré in 2012 (Een plek om lief te hebben, geschiedenis van Carré). From 2014 until September 2017 Mariette was director of the ‘Fund for Special Journalistic Projects’.
