
Petra Drenth works as a communications officer at the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies.
She graduated in History (UvA) and Information Marketing and Management (HBO for the Book Trade and Publishing). Since 2010, she has worked as a communications officer for the international project European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI), of which the NIOD is the coordinator.
Petra is responsible for internal and external communication, the website, newsletter, social media, events, and drafting communication plans for EHRI. Between 2015 and 2019, she was also involved in the communication for another major European project, PARTHENOS, in which NIOD was a partner. In addition to EHRI, she occasionally performs other communication duties for NIOD. For example, Petra was co-editor of the anniversary book. Oorlog in onderzoek – 75 jaar NIOD.
Between 2007 and 2010, she was a project officer and researcher at the NIOD for the projectToepassing en uitvoering van de wetten voor oorlogsslachtoffers (Application and Implementation of the Laws for War Victims). Prior to that, she worked for the Jewish Historical Museum on various exhibitions and the renewal of the permanent collection, including De geschiedenis van de Joden in Nederland in de 20ste eeuw. (The History of the Jews in the Netherlands in the 20th Century). She was involved for two years as a researcher and project officer at SOTO, the Foundation for Research into Return and Reception (regarding victims of WWII).
