Legacies of Violence: Explorations in Dutch and Japanese Research into Memory, Trauma, Gender, and the Quality of Life originated within the framework of the Historical Research Programme Japan and the Netherlands II and started off with a joint workshop held at the NIOD from 9-10 March 2006.
The aim of the programme is to compare post-war developments in Japan and the Netherlands through a number of topics related to the legacies of war and violence in the central decades of the 20th century.
