Fascism. Journal of Comparative Fascist Studies

Fascism. Journal of Comparative Fascist Studies is a peer reviewed open access journal, published by Brill and NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Fascism publishes articles by both seasoned researchers and postgraduates, exploring the phenomenon of fascism in a comparative context.

Possible themes are:

  • the uniqueness and generic aspects of fascism
  • the relationship between fascist movements and the national political establishment
  • modernist utopianism in fascist thinking
  • social and regional composition of fascist constituencies
  • patterns in the causal aspects/genesis of various fascisms in political, economic, social, historical, and psychological factors
  • fascist expression in art, culture, ritual and propaganda
  • elements of continuity between interwar and postwar fascisms
  • fascisms in relation to national and cultural crisis, revolution, modernity/modernism, political religion, totalitarianism, capitalism, communism, extremism, charismatic dictatorship, patriarchy, terrorism, fundamentalism
  • other phenomena related to the rise of political and social extremism

Fascism is published twice a year, in April and October. The first issue was published in April 2012.
