Dr. Lovro Kralj
Biography
Lovro Kralj is a historian specializing in fascism, antisemitism, genocide, and the Holocaust, with a regional focus on Central and Southeast Europe. He is currently an EHRI-ERIC Research and Content Officer at the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies in Amsterdam. He received his PhD in comparative history from the Central European University in 2023.
Kralj’s research has been supported by several international fellowships and grants, including the Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies Junior Fellowship, the Claims Conference Saul Kagan Fellowship in Advanced Holocaust Studies, Holocaust Educational Foundation of Northwestern University Sharon Abramson Research Grant, and the Center for Holocaust Studies at the Institute for Contemporary History in Munich. He has presented his work at numerous international conferences and workshops, including the Lessons & Legacies Conference.
Kralj has previously worked at the Department of History at the University of Rijeka, where he has coordinated several international projects related to the history of the Holocaust. In 2024 he co-founded the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Research in Southeast Europe at the University of Rijeka and served as its first director until the end of 2025.
