Yugoslav Wars and Post-Yugoslav Space Thirty Years After
Although this is one of the most extensively documented man-made disasters in recent history, three decades after Srebrenica, Oluja, and Dayton, many questions remain unanswered. A gap between global and local scholarships still exists and even deepens as new archival holdings are becoming accessible. However, both interdisciplinary communication and transnational coordination in this area have eroded, frequently languishing in repetitive and ossified clichés.
To reorient the discussion toward novel perspectives, this conference gives space to the newest generation of scholars alongside those who shaped the field to help us transform an avalanche of information into useful insights for post-Yugoslav space and beyond. As war is again a reality on the European continent and indeed worldwide, considering its brutality and far-reaching consequences seems more important than ever, both in still unsettled region of the Western Balkans and globally.
This event is organised by Petar Finci (NIOD), Dr. Vladimir Petrovic (NIOD), and Professor Barbara Hola (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam).
