Master's degree ceremony in Holocaust and Genocide Studies

Published on 12 November 2025
On 6 November, NIOD and the University of Amsterdam celebrated the graduation of our Master’s students (2024-2025) in Holocaust and Genocide Studies.

In the presence of their professors, family, and friends, diplomas were awarded to:

Imogen Alessio
Lisa Boshuizen
Stijn van Duijn
Rebecca Fisch
Fleur de Haan
Lauren Hawkes
Nicolai Hilton
Max van de Looij
Tessa Röcken
Tijn Traa
Anna Wojas
Nora Willemsen

Laudations read by their supervisors – Prof. Nanci Adler, Prof. Karel Berkhoff, Dr. Solange Fontana, and Dr. Vladimir Petrovic – highlighted the impressive breadth and depth of their research. They range from research transitional justice processes in the United States to teaching Srebrenica genocide in Dutch classrooms, from investigating the fate of Crimean Tatars to evaluating the peacekeeping mission at Congo and much more.

We are using this opportunity to thank all of our students, as well as teachers and other staff for making this program unique. As we say goodbye to our previous cohort, we are in full swing working with the students enrolled in this academic year.

Information session during the UvA Master's Week

Are you interested in this master's program? During the UvA Master's Week, an information session will be organized about the MA Holocaust and Genocide Studies.

The session will provide information about the one-year master's program, which studies mass violence from an interdisciplinary perspective. The teaching team has diverse research interests, and the program is offered by the University of Amsterdam in collaboration with the NIOD.

The information session will take place on November 17, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and can be followed online. More information about the session and registration can be found here.
